Hallo all badewanne owners. Spring is here and I wish you a fine season. I havenow my wanne home. First I had a whistling sound (vaccum sound from the carburetor or manifold). I changed the vergaser to a very good Solex PDSIT-3 (almost new) with auto choke. Idling and mixture is adjusted well and the motor goes very good.

BUT! the whistling sound is still there. I have disconnected the fan belt to eliminate that the whisling comes from the alternator or water pump. As far as I can see, the leak must come from the manifold connection to the cylinder head. Probably a minor and very small leak in the gasket between the intake manifold and the cylinder head.

It is a very thin and high frequent sound and it disturbs me a lot. Does anyone in this forum know how to find a so very small leak. Do I have to replace the intake manifold gasket? I hope I don't need to do that. I have tightened the bolts and the whisling became a little less, and I do not dare tighten more.

How to discover such small leak and maybe add some stuff where it comes from. Of course a replacement of the gasket will be done, but I don't want to start with this right now. That's a winter job. I want to cruise and eenjoy, but without that damned whistling sound

Hallo Annika,

to find such leaks you can spray brake cleaner, without any danger, on the gasket.
When spraying on the gasket the whistle disappears, then you know where the leak is.

Thanks for the information. I will try that spray. Hopefully I will find the leak and then temporary fix it so I can continue enjoying my badewanne over the summer. Then I have some winter job changing the entire gasket set.
